Personal Information Collection Statement
Starfish Charitable Foundation (“we” or “Starfish”) takes your personal data seriously. We abide by the
Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, Cap. 486, Laws of Hong Kong (the Ordinance).

Personal Data Collected
As you engage with us, we may collect your personal data in various areas of our website, donation forms,
and other channels which may be used to communicate with us. This includes but not limited to:

  1.  personal information such as your name and gender;
  2. contact information such as your telephone number(s), postal addresses, email and fax numbers;
  3.  credit card or bank account information, including name of cardholder, card number, expiry date
    bank account number and name of account holder; business information such a company name,
    business title and associated contact information; and
  4. responses to our surveys to which you responded.

Purpose and Use
We may use your personal data for one or more of the following purposes:

  1. providing charitable campaigns, activities and/or events;
  2.  processing and managing your application to participate in our programmes, use our services
    and/or work as a volunteer;
  3. processing and managing your one-time donation or recurring donation, and issuing receipts;
  4. communicating with you in response to your requests, enquiries, complaints and suggestions;
  5. conducting surveys to improve our services;
  6. complying with the applicable laws, rules and regulations applicable to the Foundation; and
  7. any other purposes related or incidental to the above.

We may transfer personal data to others
We will keep personal data confidential but we may provide and disclose personal data to the following
types of persons (whether within or outside Hong Kong) for the purposes set out above:

  1. any volunteer, contractor or service provider who the Foundation engages to provide charitable
    services to you;
  2.  any agent, contractor or third party service provider who provides services or technology to us to
    support our operation, including administrative, telecommunications, data processing, computer,
    electronic, digital or mobile services or technology;
  3. any person who owes a duty of confidentiality to us, including our external auditors, legal
    advisers and other professional consultants; and
  4. any person to whom we are obliged or expected to provide or disclose personal data in order to comply with any legal or regulatory obligations applicable to us.


Data Storage
We take all reasonably practicable steps (including adopting contractual or other means where necessary)
to ensure that the personal data held by us is not kept longer than the period that is necessary for the
fulfillment of the purposes for which the data is collected, unless otherwise required or permitted by
applicable laws.

Direct marketing
The Foundation intends to use your personal data to send you information about services, products, events
and/or activities offered or provided by us from time to time. We require your consent in order to do this.
You can exercise your right to prevent such use by checking the appropriate boxes on the forms we use to
collect your data. You can also exercise the right at any time by contacting us at the address given at the
end of this statement.

Access to Information
You have the right to make access request or correction request in relation to your personal data. In order
to enable us to process any request, you will have to provide information to verify your identity and your

Changes to Our Statement
If we decide to change this statement, we will post the updated statement to our website. Any changes to
this statement shall be effective immediately upon posting. If any change to this statement is unacceptable
to you, we advise that you to refrain from visiting our website and/or opt-out from receiving our
communications or contact us regarding removal of your personal data.

If there is any inconsistency between the English version and Chinese version of this statement, the English
version shall prevail.
